Ebola Outbreak in Congo Spreads to Two More Provinces

The ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has spread to two new provinces. Official figures show 1926 cases and 702 deaths.
Experts warn that the true scale of the outbreak could be much higher than the reported numbers. The outbreak, which started in the Ituri province, has now spread to the Haut-Uele and Tshopo provinces.
The National Institute of Public Health in Congo reported that most of the new cases were linked to the Niania region in the Ituri province.
Health officials are continuing contact tracing and control efforts to prevent the outbreak from spreading to new areas.
