Colombia Refuses to Allow Mexico's Search and Rescue Team Entry

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that Colombia did not allow the entry of Mexico's search and rescue team after the 7.4 magnitude earthquake.Mexico had offered help to Colombia but the entry of the search and rescue team was denied.

I said yesterday that the rescue teams, the army's rescue brigade, went to Colombia, but no, they didn't.

They have gone to 98 countries to rescue people and help them in solidarity. They are highly experienced and have the necessary certifications

Former Colombian President Gustavo Petro criticized this decision:

They are taking advantage of the culturally created environment in the country regarding disasters, and reactivating the figure of the first lady in the management of humanitarian aid.

Director of Colombia's National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), David Tamayo, stated that the process of formalizing support requests from several countries for search and rescue teams has begun after the earthquake.
