Indictment Prepared for Factory Fire in Kocaeli, Turkey: 7 Suspects Face Charges

The investigation into the factory fire in Dilovası, Kocaeli, which resulted in the loss of 7 lives and injured 6 people, has been completed. The indictment prepared by the Gebze Prosecutor's Office has been submitted, charging 7 municipal officials and former employees with 'reckless negligence resulting in the death and injury of multiple individuals'.The suspects include Deputy Mayors of Dilovası Municipality Necati Temiz and Hüseyin Öztürk, former Building Control Directors Cihan Sorgucu and Selim San, Building Control Director Muammer Telli, former Police Chief Cengiz Taşdemir, and Acting Police Chief Nizamettin Balcı. The indictment requests prison sentences ranging from 2 years 8 months to 22 years 6 months for these individuals. The indictment has been sent to the Gebze 7th Heavy Penal Court.The case is awaiting the start of the trial process.
