Kırkpınar's New Champion Emerges with Record-Breaking Bid of 46 Million Lira

The 665th edition of the Traditional Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling tournament in Edirne saw Ufuk Özünlü emerge as the new champion with a record-breaking bid of 46 million 666 thousand 666 lira.Prior to the auction, Özünlü was the sole contender for the championship title. Edirne Mayor Filiz Gencan Akın initiated the bidding at 41 million lira, which Özünlü eventually raised to 46 million 666 thousand 666 lira, securing his position as the champion.Following his victory, Özünlü made a triumphant entrance into the arena, accompanied by the sounds of drums and zurna, and greeted the crowd. The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including the President of the Turkish Traditional Wrestling Federation, İbrahim Türkiş, and former Fenerbahçe president, Ali Koç.As the winner of the championship for the third consecutive time, Ufuk Özünlü was awarded a permanent gold belt for his achievement.
