Foiled Terror Plot in Crimea: Ukrainian Agent Detained

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a Ukrainian agent in Crimea who was preparing to carry out sabotage. The 55-year-old suspect was found to have been in contact with Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) officials via WhatsApp and had been providing them with information about Russia's air defense systems and military unit locations. During his interrogation, the suspect confessed to gathering intelligence on aircraft and air defense positions at Belbek Airport. He had been instructed by the SBU to carry out terrorist acts on the railway infrastructure, but was caught by security forces before he could carry out his mission. The FSB's Crimea and Sevastopol Investigation Department has launched a criminal investigation into the detainee on charges of treason. The suspect was taken to court and remanded in custody.
