Nighttime Floods in Kastamonu: Residents of Ground Floors Evacuated
Residents of the ground floors in Kastamonu's Cide district were evacuated to safe areas due to nighttime floods. Following the heavy rainfall warnings from the Meteorology General Directorate, the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP) Disaster Working Groups were put on alert in the city. In the areas where the floods occurred, equipment, vehicles, and personnel were deployed by the 23rd Regional Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, 15th Regional Directorate of Highways, Kastamonu Regional Directorate of Forestry, AFAD Provincial Directorate, and Kastamonu Provincial Special Administration. In the Cide district, at around 04.00, more than 150 houses, workplaces, and warehouses were flooded, and some vehicles were left in the water. There were no casualties in the flood. The residents of the ground floors were evacuated to safe areas. After the evacuation, those who requested were taken to the dormitories in the district center. Since the amount of rainfall and water has decreased in the district, there are no transportation obstacles. The TAMP disaster groups continue their work in the district center.
