Card Payments Increased by 50% in June

In June, payments made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in Turkey increased by 50% compared to the same period last year, reaching 2 trillion 867.7 billion liras. According to the data from the Interbank Card Center (BKM), the total number of cards in Turkey also increased by 4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 471.7 million. During this period, the number of credit cards was 150.4 million, the number of debit cards was 221.6 million, and the number of prepaid cards was 99.7 million. The total amount of card payments was 2 trillion 463.7 billion liras with credit cards, 396.2 billion liras with debit cards, and 7.8 billion liras with prepaid cards. The payment amount increased by 53% annually with credit cards, 37% with debit cards, while decreasing by 35% with prepaid cards. The number of card payments also continued to rise. In June, 1 billion 132 million payments were made with credit cards, 776.3 million payments with debit cards, and 34.9 million payments with prepaid cards.
