Partial Collapse of a Building in Istanbul's Kartal District: Residents are Anxious

A building in Istanbul's Kartal district, which was being demolished as part of an urban renewal project, partially collapsed. The incident occurred on Yıldız Caddesi in Esentepe Mahallesi.The balconies and walls of the upper floors of the five-story building suddenly collapsed. Residents of the neighborhood, who heard the sound of the collapse, rushed outside in a panic. Firefighters, police, and municipal police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report.It was found that some vehicles parked near the building were damaged by falling debris and concrete fragments. The teams cleared the rubble and set up barriers around the building. Residents stated that they had heard creaking sounds from the building from time to time and felt threatened.

We woke up to a loud noise and came here immediately. The creaking sounds continued. We called the fire department and the police. They came, set up barriers, but the danger in the building persists. This has been going on for about 4 weeks, and they haven't done the demolition yet.
