Man Survives Bear Attack in Kars, Turkey, by Crawling 150 Meters for Help
Ali Özkan, a 65-year-old man from Izmir, was attacked by a bear while on vacation in his hometown of Kars, specifically in the Sarıkamış district. The bear attack, which occurred in the Parmakdere village, resulted in Özkan's leg being broken and various injuries across his body. He managed to crawl to the road and call for help from nearby shepherds. After the incident was reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center, teams arrived at the scene and took Özkan to the Sarıkamış State Hospital. He was later transferred to the Harakani State Hospital after initial treatment.

As I was walking in the meadow, I saw bear cubs in the wooded area above. Suddenly, the mother bear attacked me, striking my chest with her paw, and I fell. She grabbed my legs, and I realized she had cubs with her. I shouted, and then she broke my leg and left. There was no one around, so I crawled 150 meters to the road and called for help from the shepherds nearby.

Özkan is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
