Call for Secure Trade Corridor in the Black Sea

As security risks for civilian trade ships increase in the Black Sea, ROST Russian-Turkish Trade House Chairman Kadir Kurtuluş stated, 'Civilian trade ships are not part of the conflict. We expect the logistical security in the Black Sea to be re-established as soon as possible.'The Black Sea is one of the most important routes for trade and logistics between Turkey and Russia.

When maritime transportation is disrupted, alternative routes such as the highway through Georgia come into play. However, the diversion of thousands of tons of cargo to highways increases costs and creates significant congestion at border crossings.

There is a very important trade infrastructure established between Turkey and Russia over the years. Today, our exporters' and importers' basic expectation is for their goods to be transported safely, predictably, and at competitive costs.

We believe that civilian trade ships should be kept out of conflicts. A system needs to be established to allow commercial ships to move safely.
