Kadıkalesi Included in UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List

The historic Kadıkalesi in Kuşadası, Aydın, has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.According to the statement made by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Kadıkalesi was accepted into the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List within the scope of the "Genoese Trade Route in the Mediterranean to the Black Sea Fortresses and Walled Cities" file. With its archaeological values, strategic location, and rich cultural heritage, Kadıkalesi is considered one of the important points in Turkey's candidacy for the world heritage. The excavations in Kadıkalesi are being carried out under the leadership of Doç. Dr. Suna Çağaptay, a faculty member of the Department of Art History at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University.
