Japan Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 28

The death toll from the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Japan's Kumamoto prefecture on July 28 has risen to 28. Japanese Cabinet Secretary Kihara Minoru announced that the number of fatalities had increased to 28 and that search and rescue efforts are ongoing.The impact of the earthquake on global companies with production facilities in the region was also highlighted. The Kumamoto Prefectural Government reported that 10,000 people are still taking shelter and 23,000 households are without electricity.According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers and had a magnitude of 7.1.Japan is located on the 'Pacific Ring of Fire', a zone of intense seismic and volcanic activity.
