Izmit Mayor Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet Temporarily Removed from Office

The Ministry of Interior announced that Izmit Mayor Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet has been temporarily removed from office as a precautionary measure.As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Hürriyet was arrested on July 23 on charges of corruption.The Ministry of Interior stated that Hürriyet's arrest led to her temporary removal from the mayoral position.
