Tragic Family Incident in Izmir: Mother and Disabled Son Found Dead at Home

A mother and her disabled son were found shot dead in their home in the Urla district of Izmir. The incident occurred on 2090 Street in the İskele Mahallesi. Initial findings suggest that the mother shot her son before taking her own life. The lifeless bodies of 18-year-old Ahmet Barış Kandemir, who has a mental disability, and his 60-year-old mother Nurten Kandemir, were discovered by health and police teams. The incident came to light when a staff member, who had come to pick up Ahmet Barış Kandemir from his home, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center after the young man failed to exit his residence. When the health and police teams arrived at the scene, they found the mother and son unresponsive and shot. Following an investigation, it was determined that they had lost their lives. After the on-site investigation, the lifeless bodies of the mother and son were taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue. It is believed that the mother, Nurten Kandemir, shot her son for an as yet unknown reason before taking her own life.
