Italy Suspends Schengen Free Travel Agreement With Spain Amid Mass Migrant Influx

In response to the mass migrant influx from Morocco, Italy has decided to suspend the Schengen free travel agreement with Spain. This decision will affect individuals traveling between the two countries by air or sea.The Italian Ministry of Interior announced that, in addition to this measure, they have agreed with France to strengthen controls along the France-Italy land border.The Spanish Ministry of Interior reported that approximately 49,000 migrants from Morocco crossed into the Ceuta settlement area in the last 24 hours. According to local news, 57 of these migrants lost their lives during the crossing attempt.
