Istanbul's Clean Beaches Revealed: 67 Beaches Have 'Excellent' Quality
Good news for those who want to swim in Istanbul: The analysis results of the Ministry of Health show that 67 beaches in the city have 'excellent' quality. According to the evaluations made by the Ministry of Health, 67 beaches in Istanbul have 'excellent' quality. When looked at by districts, Şile is at the top of the list with 21 beaches, followed by Adalar with 17 beaches, Silivri with 10 beaches, Çatalca with 6 beaches, Arnavutköy with 5 beaches, Büyükçekmece with 4 beaches, Kadıköy with 3 beaches, and Beylikdüzü with 1 beach. In the Ministry of Health's swimming water tracking system, beaches are evaluated in five different classes: 'excellent', 'good', 'sufficient', 'poor', and 'new' for areas where analysis data is not yet sufficient. In the classification, the microbiological analysis results of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Intestinal Enterococcus bacteria, which play an important role in determining possible pollution in the water, are taken as the basis.
