Istanbul Flooded: 57 Kilograms of Rainfall Paralyzed Life

The expected downpour in Istanbul has taken effect across the city, causing flooding in many areas and leaving vehicles and pedestrians stranded. According to measurements, 57 kilograms of rainfall per square meter were recorded in Darlık Köyü, Şile.
The downpour in Istanbul has particularly affected the European side, including the districts of Küçükçekmece, Beşiktaş, Bakırköy, Bahçelievler, Sultangazi, and Şişli. Drivers on the D-100 highway had difficulty navigating through traffic.
On the Asian side, Üsküdar, Sancaktepe, Pendik, and Kartal have also been experiencing the effects of the downpour since morning, with intervals of heavy rain. Pollution was observed in the sea at Kartal Sahili due to the rainfall.
According to an announcement from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, teams are working in the field under the coordination of the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), with 5,638 personnel and 2,074 vehicles, to counter the downpour.
