International Fraud Gang Busted in Istanbul
A fraud gang that set up a call center in Istanbul and used AI-powered software to scam Europeans has been busted in an operation. The gang, which operated out of a call center in Maslak, posed as 'police, prosecutors, soldiers, and bank officials' to contact individuals in Czech Republic and other European countries. It was found that 80 foreign nationals worked at the call center. Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made statements about the operation on his social media account. Gürlek announced that an international fraud network was busted as a result of an investigation conducted based on information and documents provided by Czech judicial authorities. Gürlek stated, 'It was determined that suspects who contacted people in Europe using AI-powered software and posing as police, prosecutors, soldiers, and bank officials, and defrauded many Czech and European citizens, obtained a large amount of unjust gain.' 'An operation was carried out at three separate addresses in Istanbul, and digital materials used in the crime were seized.'
