Istanbul to Install EDS at 128 Points to Enhance Traffic Control

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has taken a significant step to strengthen traffic order in the city. At the UKOME meeting, it was decided to install Electronic Monitoring Systems (EDS) at 128 points.
This decision aims to detect average speed and red light violations, enhancing traffic safety in Istanbul. EDS systems will be installed at critical points such as the Avrasya Tunnel, Halit Ulukurt Tunnel, Libadiye Çamlıca Tunnel, and Çamlıca Connection Tunnel.
During the meeting, electric scooter operators were warned to prepare parking areas within 90 days, with permits to be revoked for non-compliant operators.
The UKOME meeting also resulted in changes to the routes of some public transportation lines within the scope of the Kadıköy Square Pedestrianization Project. Furthermore, the public transportation vehicle usage permits of 12 drivers who engaged in misconduct were revoked.
Finally, fines were imposed for various offenses recorded by law enforcement or police, and the applications of 32 drivers who had their records or licenses suspended were rejected.
