TOKİ has launched a project of 15,000 rental homes to balance excessive rent increases. Homes will be rented at half the market value, with deliveries starting in September.Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced the details of the project: "If the rent in the region is 30,000 liras, we will calculate it at half or below. Our citizens will live in suitable conditions at a price much lower than the market value." After the applications are completed, housing allocations will be made by lottery in the presence of a notary. Citizens whose names are drawn will sign a contract with TOKİ and become tenants.1+1, 2+1, and 3+1 rental apartments will be allocated to eligible individuals for a rental period of 3 years. After 3 years, the homes will be renovated and transferred to new beneficiaries. To benefit from the affordable housing project, the primary condition is not to have a registered home and to be below the determined income limit. Additionally, applicants must have been residing in Istanbul for a certain period.Special quotas will be allocated to specific social groups within the rental social housing application criteria.
