Massive Grasshopper Invasion in Istanbul: Public Alarmed

The appearance of large grasshoppers exceeding 10 centimeters in various districts of Istanbul has caused public concern. In the evening hours, grasshoppers reaching balconies and windows were captured on camera phones. However, there has been no official statement regarding the species of the grasshoppers. Grasshopper swarms coming from the Balkans have started to be seen in the Thrace and Istanbul regions. The activity, which has become a social media topic, was reported to be intensely observed in provinces like Edirne, Istanbul, and Kocaeli. In recent footage, a grasshopper that landed on a balcony of an apartment building was reported to have exceeded 10 centimeters in length.
