Ship Traffic Halted in Istanbul Bosphorus

Ship traffic in the Istanbul Bosphorus has been temporarily halted due to a cargo ship experiencing engine failure.According to an announcement from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the 'Hacı Hüseyin' ship, which was traveling from Russia to Iskenderun, suffered a malfunction off the coast of Kanlıca.The Sao Tome and Principe-flagged ship, which is 154 meters long, dropped anchor after drifting towards the shore due to the malfunction. Teams from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety were dispatched to the ship, which was carrying approximately 22,000 tons of iron ore.The Ministry stated that, for security reasons, ship traffic in the Istanbul Bosphorus was halted in both directions as of 18:10. While teams continue to work on the ship, necessary procedures are being carried out to restart traffic in the strait.
