Israel Deletes Ice Cream Promotion Amid Outrage
Israel deleted the promotion of a famous ice cream brand after facing backlash. The promotion introduced a new ice cream flavor in Israel but was met with genocide-related jokes. The advertisement was shared on Israel's official account and was deleted after receiving intense criticism. The US-based ice cream company Ben & Jerry's had introduced a new flavor, “Milk and Honey”, which was marketed as the “official ice cream of Israel”. The promotion was heavily criticized, and the post was deleted shortly after. The company stated that the new flavor was launched to support communities in southern Israel. The milk and cream were sourced from Kibbutz Alumim, the honey from Kibbutz Yad Mordechai near Gaza, and the chocolate chips from a factory in Beersheba. The promotion was met with outrage on social media, with users highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and mocking the ice cream. Many people redesigned the product packaging to read “Genocidaires’ Delight”. Some also commented that the taste of the ice cream was “like genocide”. The backlash coincided with a UN report released this week, which accused Israel of serious violations against Palestinian children in Gaza. Israel has denied all allegations of genocide and war crimes.
