Israeli Forces Raid UN-Run Education Center in East Jerusalem

The Israeli army has raided the Kalendiya Technical Education Institute in East Jerusalem. During the raid, educational and administrative staff were detained, and tear gas was used. Israeli soldiers used loud and tear gas bombs on the street where the institute is located.
Old trees in the area caught fire. According to a statement by the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli forces raided the Kalendiya Refugee Camp during the night and early morning hours, deploying in some neighborhoods. It was also reported that Israeli forces went up to the roof of the People's Committee building (local council) in the camp.
The Israeli forces' move came after the Jerusalem Governorate warned about a month and a half ago of an Israeli plan to demolish the UNRWA-affiliated vocational training center in Kalendiya. On June 11, the Jerusalem Governorate announced that the Israeli municipality had put forward a plan to establish a new educational complex on the land of the institute.
