1,500-Year-Old Liturgical Bowl Discovered in Isparta

A 1,500-year-old liturgical bowl with no known equivalent in the world has been unearthed in the ancient city of Pisidia Antiokheia, Isparta. Dating back to the 6th century AD, this bowl is of great significance in the history of Christian art. It depicts Daniel's vision, the four beasts from his dream, and a lion in the same composition. According to Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özhanlı, the bowl was found in the ruins of a church destroyed during the Arab raids of 713 AD. The depictions on the bowl are of great importance in Christian iconography, with the stories from the Book of Daniel being illustrated on it. The discovery is considered a significant find for both Pisidia Antiokheia and Turkish archeology.
