Spain Battles Forest Fire: 12,000 Hectares Reduced to Ashes

Spain is struggling to contain forest fires that have broken out in different regions simultaneously. The largest fire, in the Cinco Villas region of Zaragoza, has spread rapidly, engulfing a vast area. Authorities have launched a massive response to the fires, which have affected thousands of people, with both air and ground crews working to extinguish the flames. Footage shared by the Spanish Military Emergency Unit (UME) shows teams battling the fires amidst heavy smoke and flames. The Cinco Villas fire, which started on Wednesday, has already burned 12,000 hectares of land, making it the largest forest fire in Spain this year. The fire's perimeter has reached approximately 60 kilometers, with six villages evacuated and over 1,100 people directly affected. Authorities have converted sports centers into temporary shelters as the flames approach residential areas, particularly in regions with pine forests. The firefighting efforts involve 400 ground teams and 19 air units.
