Historic Border Gate Between Spain and Gibraltar Closed

The border gates between Spain and Gibraltar have been closed to history. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said, 'We are writing history. Today, the last wall in continental Europe is being demolished. We are opening the doors to a new era based on common prosperity.'
The ceremony for the removal of the border gate between Spain and Gibraltar was attended by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, and Gibraltar Autonomous Government Prime Minister Fabian Picardo. Sanchez said, 'We are writing history. Today, the last wall in continental Europe is being demolished. We are opening the doors to a new era based on common prosperity.'
The demolition of the border wall in Gibraltar has eliminated the problem that has been an open wound for thousands of workers for many years. From now on, all Spaniards and tourists in Spain will be able to enter Gibraltar without border control.
This change is expected to benefit more than 15,500 people, particularly Spanish citizens working in Gibraltar who are currently facing endless queues when entering and exiting the region.
