Spanish Prime Minister's Wife Seeks Special Permission from Court

The wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Begona Gomez, has requested special permission from the court to attend the NATO Summit in Ankara on July 7-8. Gomez, who has had her passport temporarily seized due to four separate cases against her, applied to the court through her lawyer. The application requests permission to travel abroad from July 7-10 to accompany her husband to the NATO Summit and attend her daughter's graduation ceremony in London. It is reported that the spouses of the participating country leaders are also officially invited to the summit. Gomez had previously surrendered her passport to the court on June 24, amid allegations of 'abuse of influence, corruption in the business world, embezzlement, and misuse of office'. The allegations against her include using her influence to establish commercial relationships with companies, attempting to benefit from public subsidies, and using her personal position to secure sponsorships and financial gains in a project at the Complutense University of Madrid. Additionally, it is alleged that public funds were used improperly.
