Spain Aims to Relocate Migrant Children to Mainland
Spanish Minister of Youth, Sira Rego, announced that the relocation of 1,342 registered migrant children from the Spanish territory of Septe in North Africa to the mainland is expected to begin within a few weeks. Minister Rego emphasized that their priority is the relocation of girls and children under the age of 13. Many children in Septe are forced to stay in makeshift shelters or on the streets due to the overcrowding of reception centers.Aid organizations and local initiatives are trying to support children and pregnant women living on the streets. The recent mass crossing, which resulted in the loss of around 75 lives, may further strain Spain's relations with other European countries.
