Iran's War Strategy: 'Mosaic Defense' and the US's Step Back
Major General Esmail Ahmadi-Moghaddam, the head of Iran's Supreme National Defense University, made significant statements about the '12-Day War' with Israel. Ahmadi-Moghaddam stated that Iran did not stop producing missiles during the war and operated with the 'mosaic defense' doctrine. He claimed that Washington took a step back after the war and that the balance of power in the region changed in favor of Iran. In a program held at Iran's defense and security education institution, Ahmadi-Moghaddam analyzed the military, political, and strategic consequences of the war. He stated that they are working on different scenarios for a possible future conflict with the US, evaluating foreign intervention scenarios based on examples from Syria, Venezuela, and Libya. Ahmadi-Moghaddam explained that Iran implemented a defense concept called 'Mosaic Defense' during the war. He stated that the command chain was created with a multi-layered backup system, and that replacements for commanders were predetermined. Ahmadi-Moghaddam also mentioned that missile systems were prepared to work with predefined targets in case communication systems were disabled, and that each city and region was planned to defend itself.
