According to reports in the Western media, top US military commanders disregarded warnings to reevaluate old intelligence on targets in Iran, where over 180 people, including 168 children, lost their lives in an attack on a girls' elementary school in Minab on February 28. According to a CNN report citing three sources close to the matter, top US military commanders failed to heed database warnings about the currency of intelligence on targets in Iran. The report stated that messages exchanged between intelligence and military officials emphasized the need to reevaluate targets based on years-old intelligence. One of the sources stated that US military officials quickly realized their mistake after the attack, saying, "They realized what mistake they made in the days following the attack."
