Iran Appoints Muhsin Rızai as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council

Muhsin Rızai, former commander of the Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran, has been appointed to a significant position. By the decision of Iranian leader Mucteba Hamaney, Rızai has been appointed as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. Rızai's appointment signals a significant change in Iran's political and military structure. Iranian leader Hamaney highlighted Rızai's military experience, emphasizing his achievements during the 8-year Iran-Iraq War. Rızai was born in 1954 in the Khuzestan province of Iran and held important military and political positions in the country. Rızai served as the Commander of the Revolutionary Guard Corps from 1981 to 1997. Later, he served as the Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council (DMTK) from 1997 to 2021. Rızai also ran for president but did not receive enough votes. He served as Vice President during the term of former President Ibrahim Raisi.
