First Face-to-Face Meeting Between Trump and Netanyahu After Iran War: Will It Impact Negotiations?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House today, their first face-to-face meeting since the Iran war began. The meeting is expected to discuss the war that started with US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. Last Friday, the renewed US attacks stopped after 13 consecutive nights, and Iran stated it would not attack regional bases unless provoked. Pakistani sources confirmed a return to the negotiating table. This will be the eighth meeting between the leaders since Trump took office and their first face-to-face meeting since the war began. Relations between the two leaders hit a low point in April during ceasefire talks, with Trump using harsh language against his Israeli ally. Before departing Israel on Monday, Netanyahu stated, 'This is a great privilege, but also a great responsibility,' adding, 'We will discuss all issues on the agenda, primarily Iran.' The leaders are also expected to discuss the implementation of a US-backed framework agreement signed by Israel and Lebanon last month, which has proven challenging to enforce on the ground.
