Iranian Foreign Minister: Opening of Strait of Hormuz Depends on Other Conditions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi stated that negotiations with Oman regarding the determination of a passage route through the Strait of Hormuz are ongoing and nearing an agreement. Arakchi noted that the opening of the Strait depends on the fulfillment of certain conditions, including the US compensating for its breach of the Islamabad Agreement. According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, Arakchi spoke at a press conference attended by high-ranking officials.The Iranian minister stated that negotiations with Oman for a new route through the Strait of Hormuz are underway and close to an agreement. Arakchi mentioned that Oman and Iran are working on a temporary route. The determination of the new route will take into account technical and legal factors, with discussions between the two countries' land and naval forces based on current maps.
