Rubio's Statement on Iran Agreement

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a statement about a potential agreement with Iran on the Strait of Hormuz. Rubio evaluated the Iranian agenda at the signing ceremony of the agreement on civil nuclear cooperation between the two countries with Paraguayan Vice President Pedro Alliana. Rubio stated that they are trying to reach an agreement with Iran on two issues, one of which is the denuclearization of Iran, and the other is to allow more ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and added:

While we are moving towards long-term negotiations on nuclear disarmament, I believe that a process of negotiation and discussion is being conducted between Oman and Iran, with our participation, to allow more ships to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz in the short term.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bekayi said today that the US is waging war on the entire region. Bekayi stated that there are currently no talks between Iran and the US, and that Iran's current priority is the negotiations with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz. Bekayi's statements contradicted US President Trump's statements yesterday. Rubio commented on the potential agreement on the Strait of Hormuz, saying, "I can say that there is progress in this process, but it has not been finalized, I hope it happens soon."
