Iraqi PM: No Reason for Armed Resistance After US Withdrawal

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali ez-Zeydi made assessments about the security situation in his country and the future of relations with the US. Zeydi shared the view that with the withdrawal of US forces, the justification for armed groups will disappear.The Iraqi Prime Minister stated that a significant part of the armed groups have started to hand over their weapons to the state, and steps to strengthen the state's authority in the security field are continuing.

After the withdrawal of all US forces, there will be no justification or need for any armed resistance in Iraq. A large part of the armed groups has started handing over their weapons to the state.

Zeydi emphasized that one of the main goals of the Iraqi government is for arms to be under the control of the state only. He noted that significant progress has been made in this area and positive results have been achieved in the process of establishing the state's monopoly on arms.Zeydi stated that in the new period, relations with the US will shift from a military dimension to an economic partnership, adding that the fight against corruption is one of the government's top priorities.
