UK Approves New Weight Loss Pill

The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved a GLP-1 tablet containing orforglipron for weight management and type 2 diabetes treatment, to be taken once a day. The UK is the first country in Europe to approve this GLP-1 tablet for these purposes. According to the MHRA, orforglipron can be used for weight loss and weight control in adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, in combination with a low-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Adults with a BMI between 27 and 30 who have at least one additional health problem related to their weight can also use the medication. Orforglipron has also been approved for improving blood sugar control in patients with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes.
