UK's Most Popular Baby Names Revealed: Mohammed Tops the List for Third Time

The most popular baby names in England and Wales for 2025 have been announced. Mohammed has topped the list for boys for the third consecutive year, while Olivia has remained the most popular girls' name for the fourth year in a row.According to the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS), 5,957 boys were named Mohammed in 2025, a 4% increase from the previous year.The ONS data shows that Mohammed was followed by Noah, Leo, Luca, and Arthur in the boys' list. Luca was the name that rose the most in the past 10 years, jumping 49 places to fourth. The popularity of footballer Jude Bellingham also contributed to the rise of the name Jude, which climbed 47 places to 14th.For girls, Olivia retained its top spot, followed by Lily and Amelia.Experts attribute the popularity of Mohammed to the growing Muslim population in the UK and the influence of well-known sports figures such as Mo Farah, Mohamed Salah, and Muhammed Ali.
