Minister Çiftçi: 'Ahbap-çavuş' Scandals Have Once Again Proven the Reliability of Official Institutions

Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi provided information on the work carried out by AFAD in the earthquake region, emphasizing that aid distributions were made entirely according to the needs of those in need. During a meeting with members of parliament, Minister Çiftçi stated that 'aid from the state and the people was distributed to our citizens through AFAD, not based on 'ahbap-çavuş' relationships, but according to the needs of those in need.' The importance of official institutions in such work and the importance of the trust factor have once again become apparent. The exposure of 'ahbap-çavuş' scandals has once again demonstrated the reliability of our official institutions. Minister Çiftçi noted that the aid efforts following the February 6, 2023 earthquakes are one of the strongest examples of state-people solidarity, and that approximately 147 billion lira was collected in aid campaigns, with the majority of these funds already being utilized. The remaining aid funds will be used for the connection roads of the houses built in the earthquake region and for urgent tasks.
