Murat Ongun Takes the Stand for the First Time in the Istanbul Municipality Case

The 59th hearing of the corruption case against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality took place, with Medya AŞ Chairman of the Board Murat Ongun presenting his defense.The hearing, held by the Istanbul 40th Heavy Penal Court, was attended by detained defendants as well as some non-detained defendants and lawyers. During the hearing, Ekrem İmamoğlu renewed his request to testify again, stating that he had other cases and asking that this be taken into consideration for the organization of other hearings.Judge Selçuk Aylan stated that they plan to conclude this part of the case by the end of April but the process has been prolonged so far.The hearing continues with the defense of detained defendant and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Advisor and MEDYA AŞ Chairman of the Board Murat Ongun.The indictment seeks the sentencing of Ekrem İmamoğlu to a total of 849 years to 2,430 years and 6 months in prison for crimes including "establishing a criminal organization" and "recording personal data".
