Houthis' Latest Move: Oil Tanker Targeted in the Red Sea
The Houthi movement in Yemen announced that it has launched a ballistic missile attack on an oil tanker in the northern Red Sea. The target was a tanker off the coast of Saudi Arabia's Yanbu Port. The Houthis' military spokesperson, Yahya Sari, stated that this attack was carried out in response to what they claim is a blockade imposed by Saudi Arabia on certain regions of Yemen, which they term a 'maritime navigation ban'. The Houthi movement has been in control of the capital Sana'a and several other cities and provinces in Yemen since September 2014. Recent developments continue to escalate tensions in the region. The Houthis had previously targeted two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea on the evening of July 22, resulting in fires on the ships.
