Tension in the Strait of Hormuz: Iran Accused of Firing Missiles at Commercial Ships

According to reports in the Western media, Iran's Revolutionary Guards may have fired missiles at commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Based on information from US officials, at least two commercial ships were targeted, suffering significant damage and catching fire, but there were no casualties. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that a tanker was hit by an unidentified object off the coast of Oman and caught fire. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical region where approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption is transported, and it has become a high-risk area for commercial ships due to increased tensions. Despite a temporary agreement signed last month, threats to commercial ships in the region continue. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakçi stated that if US threats persist, negotiations for a final agreement between the two countries will not begin.
