Driver Who Allegedly Broke Speed Record Fined 30,000 Liras

A vehicle in Istanbul Pendik was fined 30,000 liras for allegedly being caught by radar at a speed of 1,221 kilometers per hour. However, the driver claimed that this speed was humanly impossible and appealed to the court, which resulted in the cancellation of the fine.The Istanbul Police Department stated that the speed was incorrectly recorded and that the vehicle was actually traveling at 154 kilometers per hour. 'I was shocked. I said that even a passenger plane or a Formula 1 car could not reach that speed and that it was a material error.'After the driver's appeal, the fine was canceled, and the Police Department released a statement explaining the cause of the error.
