Floods in India: Death Toll Rises to 82

The severe floods hitting India's Assam state have increased the death toll to 82. Over 200,000 people have been affected by this natural disaster, while the government continues its reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.According to a statement from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the number of deaths from the floods has risen to 82, with over 200,000 people currently affected.Assam State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the situation is gradually improving and some of the affected individuals have started returning home, with the government continuing to prioritize reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.Sarma noted that the government is focusing on emergency relief payments, rebuilding livelihoods, repairing schools, and reconstructing damaged infrastructure.
