Monsoon Disaster in India: Death Toll Exceeds 100

The monsoon rains in India have caused widespread destruction, resulting in over 100 deaths since July. Thousands have been displaced, with the worst affected area being the state of Assam.
The monsoon rains have brought life to a standstill in many Indian states. Floodwaters have inundated homes, landslides have blocked roads, and lightning strikes have caused loss of life. Authorities have reported that many people have been evacuated and relief efforts are ongoing.
The worst hit state was Assam, where at least 87 people lost their lives. The highest number of deaths was recorded in the Sivasagar district, where 47 people died.
In the southern state of Kerala, at least 15 people died and 7 went missing due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall. In Jammu and Kashmir, 31 people lost their lives due to heavy rainfall.
