Attack on Police Checkpoint in Hayber Pahtunhva Province: 11 Police Officers Killed
In a region near the Afghanistan border, an attack on a police checkpoint by armed assailants resulted in the loss of lives of 11 police officers and injuries to 28 others. Following the attack, a prolonged clash ensued, during which 15 assailants were reportedly neutralized by security forces.The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Hangu district of the Hayber Pahtunhva province. Local authorities stated that the attackers initially utilized explosive-laden drones to target the police checkpoint, subsequently launching a armed assault.Among those who lost their lives was Deputy Inspector General of Police Diyar Khan. It was reported that the assailants set three police vehicles ablaze and stole one police vehicle from the scene. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.This attack follows an earlier suicide bombing in Pakistan's Tank district, which was claimed by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). In recent months, there has been an increase in attacks targeting security forces along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, with Islamabad asserting that the attackers are based in Afghanistan, a claim denied by the Taliban administration in Afghanistan.
