The Plane That Broke the Record: A 24-Hour Journey
The Airbus A350-1000ULR, specially designed for Qantas, flew from Melbourne to Toulouse, France, non-stop for 24 hours and 24 minutes, making history. Covering a distance of approximately 23,075 kilometers, this plane broke the record for the longest commercial flight, flying over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans without stopping. The flight, which ended with a landing at the Airbus factory in Toulouse, surpassed the previous record. The previous record, set by a Boeing 777-200LR in 2005, which flew from Hong Kong to London over the Pacific in 22 hours and 42 minutes, was thus broken. The A350-1000ULR, equipped with an extra fuel tank, was specially designed for long-range operations. Qantas has ordered 12 modified Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft as part of a project to connect Australia's east coast to London and New York in approximately 20 hours.
