Major Data Breach Alleged in South Korea's Foreign Ministry

A cyber attack on the online education system of the Korean National Diplomacy Academy, affiliated with South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, may have resulted in the leakage of personal data of around 10,000 personnel.According to a report by Yonhap, the cyber attack was detected in February 2026, and the system was subsequently shut down.Ministry officials stated that the data of approximately 10,000 personnel, including both retired and active diplomats, may have been compromised. However, there is no evidence that sensitive personal information such as identities, phone numbers, and home addresses were accessed.The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the possibility of foreign hacker groups being involved not being ruled out.
