South Carolina Governor Appoints Graham's Sister to Senate

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has appointed Darline Graham Nordone, the sister of late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, to fill his seat until January. Governor McMaster announced this decision at a press conference.
The Governor stated that the laws gave him the authority to make this appointment, and he chose Graham's sister Nordone to complete the term ending in January. The state's other Republican Senator, Tim Scott, also expressed his full support for this appointment.
62-year-old Darline Graham Nordone is expected to take office today after being sworn in. She will become the first female senator in South Carolina's history to serve at the federal level. Meanwhile, in a statement to the press at the White House, US President Trump described the late Senator Graham as 'a wonderful person' and 'a friend to everyone'.
