New Development in Gülistan Doku Case: Divers Arrested Over Evidence Found in Dam

A new development has occurred in the investigation into the disappearance of university student Gülistan Doku, who has been missing in Tunceli since January 5, 2020. Two divers who found notes, prescriptions, and scissors during search efforts have been arrested on charges of "evidence tampering" as part of the investigation led by the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation is examining the process by which the evidence found in the dam lake was transported and the allegations regarding the preservation of the evidence. According to a record dated January 8, 2020, some paper fragments were found during the underwater search. The soaked paper fragments included a barcoded doctor's prescription in the name of Gülistan Doku and a note with the phrase "psychological pressure was exerted on us". The record stated that these materials were handed over to the crime scene investigation teams as evidence. Another record dated January 10, 2020, mentioned the discovery of a 14-centimeter-long black-handled scissors in the dam. The expert report included in the case file made technical assessments regarding the conditions under which the paper fragments were found.
